We get the hair from the temples and straight away they are dried in shade under the sun. Because after tonsuring, the hairs are tend to have water sprinkled while tonsuring to make the work easier for the Barber!
Then the "lot" is issued to the workers who are called "assorters" and they remove the rubber bands or the knots while and after the tonsuring. This will be done with utmost carefulness not to change the direction of the hair. The roots remain as roots and tips are maintained properly. They align the raw hair. And remove the short hair while aligning the bundle and tie the single head hair into one bundle with the waste hair bunch. ( instead of thin rope or rubber bands, they use waste hair as recycling).
Overnight this hair bundles are retained in a tub with soft shampoo bath. So for more than 8 hours the raw temple hairs are soaked in shampoo and the next day, the workers start washing them. The dirt and oil on the hairs are washed away with the PH controlled soft water! .This is important as we should have soft water to wash away for the whole operation of hair cleaning.
